She resisted taking opiates because they made her memory fuzzy and made her sleepy. She took an absolute minimum amount, especially when her grandchildren were around. She adored ALL of her grandchildren (4), even more than her children (6). She wanted to make new memories and to be able to hold onto them, and to give her grandchildren memories of her.
